“Maybe the design was never about a simple countryside hotel, but about shaping a Hungarian cultural space with soul — a place where music, heritage, and community could truly come alive.”
Violin museum & cultural centre
The project centered on the revitalization concept of the historic estate in Tamási, envisioning the transformation of the deteriorated building and its surroundings into a cultural and community hub.
Plans for the building included its function as a cultural center and violin museum. The ground floor was designed to host a spacious exhibition and event hall, while the upper level accommodated teaching rooms and guest apartments for visiting performers.
A new accommodation wing, linked to the old wing by a glass passage, was designed to provide 21 guest rooms along with service and communal facilities such as a reception and breakfast lounge.
The landscape design aimed to renew the surrounding gardens, turning them into a welcoming setting for concerts, recreation, and community gatherings. In the proposed interior scheme, certain original elements of the Kúria — such as old door frames and fragments of a broken fireplace — were thoughtfully reused, preserving a tangible link to the building’s past.
Blending traditional elegance with contemporary functionality and sustainable design principles, the project preserved the spirit of the historic estate while reimagining it as a place for music, culture, and learning.
