Maybe retreating into nature isn’t about escaping — maybe it’s about arriving somewhere that feels both wild and deeply intentional.”

Nána Cabins

On the Slovak–Hungarian border, we designed 10 unique cabins for a family-run farm overlooking the majestic Esztergom Basilica. Each cabin was carefully positioned to frame the surrounding landscapes while offering guests both privacy and a deep connection with nature.

The cabins are not identical—each one has its own character. Some offer bathtubs with panoramic views of the wine hills, turning a simple soak into an immersive experience. Others feature covered terraces, allowing guests to feel embraced by nature while staying protected from the rain.

The exterior is clad in burned wood, crafted with the traditional Japanese technique Shou Sugi Ban. This method not only lends a striking aesthetic but also naturally preserves the wood, enhancing durability without the use of chemicals or paints.

The result is a collection of warm, resilient, and environmentally respectful retreats—an architectural dialogue between tradition, sustainability, and the beauty of the site.
